Pieces made in the workshop, one at a time, carved mostly by knife. Since I use no moulds or mechanical copying, every example has its own expression — the grain of the wood decides part of the face.
All the marionettes below are working puppets, not decorative objects: they have real joints, a control bar and adjusted stringing, and each was tested in performance before leaving the bench.

Pinocchio — 12 cm
A complete marionette at minimum scale: 12 cm tall, it fits in the palm of your hand and still keeps working knee, elbow and neck joints. Carved entirely by knife. It is the hardest piece in the series, because at small scale any slack in a joint turns into exaggerated movement.
Includes: puppet, control bar and adjusted stringing.

20 cm prototype
An intermediate scale, in development. The aim is a piece heavy enough to respond naturally to the control — which the 12 cm scale does not allow — while staying table-sized. Currently testing a hip joint with a wire link instead of cord.

40 cm prototype
Small-stage scale. At this height the puppet gains real stage presence and takes full stringing, with elbow strings and the rocking walk bar. Under construction.

Head study
A record of carving the face: the stage where the piece stops being a block and acquires an identity. The sequence runs from roughing out the larger planes to setting the eye sockets and mouth, always with the piece already sized against the body.

Materials and finish
Light, even-grained woods chosen piece by piece. Through-cord joints and stops where movement needs limiting. Waxed polyester thread. Finished with progressive sanding, sealer and low-sheen acrylic paint, so the face does not reflect direct light.
